Medical Director
Tamara Johnson, DVM
Dr. Tamara Johnson joined the Wylie Vet team as Medical Director in February 2019, but she has been working in Veterinary Hospitals since her senior year in high school. She did her undergraduate studies in Animal Science at Tarleton State University and achieved her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2000. Following vet school, Dr. Johnson became a full time veterinarian at her first clinic, where she remained for over 18 years before joining us here at Wylie Veterinary Hospital. Her professional areas of interest include surgery, dermatology, ultrasound and internal medicine. Like all of us, Dr. Johnson loves animals, and she has four pets at home: her cranky old cat Turbo, upstairs cat Monty, derpy Dogue de Bordeaux Dozer, and energetic rescue terrier Radar. In her free time, Dr. Johnson loves caring for her plethora of plants, reading, lifting weights (she’s competed in seven bodybuilding figure competitions!), being active in her local church, and spending time with her husband and two kids. With her extensive medical knowledge and compassion, Dr. Johnson is able to give every client and patient a deeply personalized experience. Our team is so thankful to have her!
